Help please

Hang in there Jacqui! You're doing so well so far. I know the rounds are tough but the good news is that my taste buds were pretty much back to normal about 3-4 weeks after last chemo, so at least that horrible side effect doesn't last too long! Good luck hon xx

i have been buying out the Bundaberg SARS as I also find it help. Strange isn't it. The supermarket was out of it this week so I brought schweppes sars and it tastes horrible. The strange thi ha we go through.

so not looking forward to the next round next week.

Docetaxel is the worst isn't it! I had four rounds and got almost every side effect possible so I feel your pain! It sounds weird but I found sipping on bundaberg sarsparilla really helped me (and I don't usually like the stuff) but with altered taste buds it was different, the licorice really helps to soothe the stomach too if you get reflux or feel a little nauseated.

I use lemon lime sugar free gum.  It helps me with that yucky slimy taste.nngood luck

I had four rounds of this and was told it would be easier than FEC. Oh BOY, were they way off the mark. I am sorry to say but of all my treatment this was by far the worse  I had the worse dry mouth imaginable, nothing could relieve it.  

Biotine have a gel and spray that might help.  Thinking of you.

I am in same situation did 3 rounds of FEC and it was a breeze started the Docetaxel on 18 Nov and it was horrible as above fruit tingles, Biotene Mouthwash and tooth paste helped as did ginger beer.  Watch the mouth as they say for oral thrush which I got and found nilstat drops fixed this pretty quickly.  Next round is 19 Nov and I have to say I am not looking forward to it but will be better prepared.  Hang in there it will be worth it and like me take one day at a time.

I have been trying zipper doopers (icy poles) and struggling with them. Definitely onto the mouth gargle. Glad you are feeling better. I wake up each day hoping for that (I know it will happen just struggling at the moment) take care??????

Hey there. I had fec and taxotere. I was lucky didnt really have the weird taste. I did all the salt gargling but i got oral thrush during chemo which took me forever to get rid of. Got the ulcers too  I found this quite painful. I took inner health plus probiotics but not sure if it helped at all. 

Hang in there i agree with Tracey chemo is wicked stuff but needed to make us well.????

Hi Jaqui, number 1: go to plastic cutlery, number 2: suck on fruit tingles, it takes that horrible taste out of your mouth. Number 3:  check your tongue, I always used to get oral thrush after chemo, if your tongue is coated use nilstat drops 4 times a day. Chemo does suck, however it's better than the alternative.
