Help! Chemo Nausea

Hi all. Had my first infusion TAC on Thursday. All going ok but I have shocking nausea. Finding it hard to move let alone eat & drink. I'm not vomitting, which is good, but wondering if anyone has some good tips on what worked for them and how long I can expect this to last. More than a bit miserable :(

  • I just have maxalon so will look into stronger. Thanks ladies.
  • I did that with the stemitil ...just before bed and had a dose for morning ready...took in bed then didn't get up for half an hour.
  • I had ondansetron as well as Maxalon like @primek regardless if I needed it or not. If you have both, just take them at alternate times. One tip they gave me was to have a Maxalon straight before going to sleep as it helped not wake up nauseaous the next morning. Worked a treat. I hope your nausea passes. Mel xx
  • Can you get to a Dr? I needed both ondasetron (specific nausea tabs for chemo that dissolve on tongue) and stemitil as I was woozy with head spins. Maxalon didn't really help me. A tip if you do get ondasetron is to take 30 mins pre meals and I used a sugerless mint at same time as the taste made me squarmy too. The stemitil I took 3 times a day round the clock whether feeling sick or not fir 3 days after chemo. I've heard ginger ale can help with nausea but as I had shocking reflux it wasn't an option. I also had nexium morning and night as awful reflux which worsened it.

Hi Molly,  I found a few sips of coke or ginger beer helped (with lots of ice).  Your Oncologist can prescribe anti nausea medication.  Best wishes. Sue
