Hello

Hi there,

Its taken me quite some time to filter into these forums, I was 35 when I was diagnosed, I ended up having my right breast removed after 3 surgeries which determined they could not get a clear margin, my cancer was not the usual type that grows in balls but grew in very thin strands.

I knew for 3 years there was something wrong but multiple mamograms and ultrasounds never picked it up, even when the tumour was so large my nipple inverted itself it still never showed up. I was lucky that it wasn't an agressive type of cancer or I wouldn't be here.

After subtle changes to the other breast this year I had it removed in June to try and avoid secondry cancer. I had expanders put in at the same time so am currently going through the discomfort of regular expansions.

I live in hope that once these are removed and the impants inserted I can try and get back to a normal kind of life...look forward to getting to know you all..

  • Hi Everyone!

I am currently designing clothing specifically for women that have undergone breast cancer surgery. My garments will cater to women that have had mastectomies and lumpectomies.

If you have had difficulty finding suitable clothing to wear after surgery i would love to hear from you. I would appreciate any feedback!

    Kind Regards,
    Gemma

  • Hi Bianca, My cancer was my very early and invisible , found while looking at something else.

I went on and had the other boob removed because I was worried and my surgeon said that I had a strong chance of getting it there too. I had a great sense of relief when it was gone  and am starting to feel normal again with my reconstructed boobs. They are not perfect but they are the new me.

New me is different to old me. I think Im a better person and getting stronger everyday. I looked in the mirror today and thought "Yeah , they are not bad at all"

My advice is be patient, the will not look fabulous when they are first done. I had this stupid idea that they would be and I had a lot of tears when they werent perfect. Then after the nipple reconstruction I had tears of joy, they are great and made a huge difference. I just need to have the tattooing done now. Life is much brighter than it was nearly 3 years ago.

    Take care , annie
