Healing well
Well, I am healing well after my mastectomy and the pathology results are back - Stage 3, Her2 positive cancer again. Will mean I am in for the same treatment - chemotherapy plus Herceptin and, more...
Hi Danielle,
Yes, it is great to heal so well this time. I had a harder time with my first mastectomy, so this has been a nice suprise.
You are right and the school has been very supportive without making me feel that they feel sorry for me. I too agree that it is good that the kids are young. I also have good neighbours (friends) who are providing support as well and a neighbour looked after them for us when I had chemo this week.
The kids have been through this before but I'm not sure what they remember. I have had the talk about the 'special medicine' and how my hair will fall out again, so they are waiting for that at the moment. I had my first chemo yesterday so they won't have that long to wait now :).
My son was a little funny when I came home last night because I had spoken about the fact that the medicine is toxic to them when I first have it. I pretty much live in my room for the first week, which is hard because I just want to hug them, but I blow them hugs the same way I blow them kisses. Once he realised that I was ok and could still blow him kisses and hugs he seemed to settle.
So far, it has been ok, but I guess I just need to wait over the next three weeks and over the next couple of months. I'm feeling quite positive and tolerated the chemo well last time and as it is pretty much the same routine, I'm hoping that I will tolerate it well again.
Cheers,
Nenie?
