I went and asked about it but they thought it was better left. Oh well. I'll just have prickly things sticking into me for a while longer.
At close to a month post-surgery now, I think my scar area is just as tender as a fortnight ago and I have now developed some cording. Another surprise. I was complaining about these tight rubberband-like things pulling at my underarm but nobody told me what it was until I went to the physio yesterday. She tested my range of movement and then told me I had this common complication. I knew those stringy things were there and thought it was strange but none of the doctors or nurses ever told me it wasn't normal. Actually, they probably didn't get me to extend my arm. I did think it strange that it always hurt to move but everybody kept telling me it shouldn't. Great. It gets better and better. At least I know what it is now. What is really bothering me though is how I keep reading about how people don't have much pain or discomfort and they quickly get back out into the garden or get full range of movement back. That has not been my experience so far and I feel a bit of a sook. I'm still on painkillers, my scar and my arm burns with anything except the lightest contact and I still cannot comfortably wash my hair or do things that require me to have full extension of that arm. This is no fun at all.
- Robyn_WMemberMine was exactly like yours. Why don't you go to your GP and get him to tidy up any loose bits that are left.My doctor was happy to take mine out.Dont risk doing it yourself, because the skin is still very tender.Cheers Robyn
