Head Shaved, ready for Tuesday

Hi Everyone,

Just thought I'd share my new look. My head was shaved yesterday, all ready to start chemo on Tuesday. I had so many grey patches that I threw some pink in....so now I have fluro pink patches!!! So far we have raised $5010 for the Leukeamia Foundation. So it doesn't help us directly, but it may help our kids & grandkids.

I had my chemo orentation on Friday at Concord Hospital, does anyone else go there? The bi-carb mouthwash sounds gross, but I'll stick to it. I was also surprised to hear Nurofen was off the menu as it can affect the blood in the bone marrow.

I'll let you know how Tuesday goes, Sam xo

It looks great Sam and it is so great to see you taking it all in your stride! Sending you big hugs today and throughout your treatment. Cheers, Daina
  • Wooooohooooooo girlfriend luuuuuuvvvvv the colour, suits you, way to go.  You are way braver and cleverer that me.I will be thinking of you tomorrow.  The waiting and not knowing is a lot harder than the actual chemo.  You will come out of there and go hey that wasn't so bad.  It felt a lot worse having a tooth out. There is a post on here that is called "what has helped you through your journey" and it has some great tips for any possible side effects that may occur so worth a look see.Thinking of you kiddo, all the best, Mich xoxoxo
  • Raising over $5000 is incredible - well done!  I like your pink look - hope your daughter thinks it's cool, too.  I found that Biotene mouthwash and toothpaste (from any chemist) were really soothing for dry mouth during chemo - if you don't like the bicarb, try these.  Will be thinking of you on Tuesday - sooner started, sooner finished.  Big hug - keep in touch -Michelle xx

  • Ah yes, I still remember that head shave like it was yesterday.  I also recall waiting until the last minute, after my 2nd hit of chemo, before I took the plunge.  Funny when the spike fall out, I was glad I had a cap to wear to bed!  Good luck!  X Bel
