Hi Deb,

I don't know much yet about the medical side, but i do know that a persons  emotional side  really takes a battering with this disease.  With what i can see,  you have been through so much but yet  have come so very far.  

PS:   men will never understand the  emotional side of a woman  despite having a disease or not. ( It's hard enough for a woman to understand.)

Hi Debbie,  I have blood tests every three months as I have secondaries in my sacrum.  For the first three months my marker settled and then it started to slowly climb again.  I had scans just before Christmas 2010 and there were some nodes showing up in my chest area, so it had managed to grow while I was taking the Femara.  I have jsut finished chemo and I am now on Aromasin.  I will have scans again at the end of August to see how it is all going.

Hi Debbie, I see my sugeon, radiologist , oncologist every few months alternatively. They haven't taken any blood tests for me since chemo. I'm on Arimidex.  I was a bit teary this morning, as I had my hair cut last night by my daugher. All I could see it was getting shorter not longer. we're trying to get it one length, or the top lengths longer.We all need somewhere to talk, so I'm glad we've got this site, as no one else understands what you've been though totally.

The crying can hit at anytime I have found.  At the start, people only had to mention the world "children" to me and I would be reduced to tears.  Check ups are an anxiouos time too.  You go in and you have no idea what to expect.  It could be just the relief of getting the information.  A friend of mine warned me about the 10 second cries that just come out of nowhere and then they seem to vanish.

You have been through such a lot in a short time especially surgically and emotionally.  I think it is just a release of all the anxiety and the unknown.

I was on Femara for about 18 months.  No big side effects although deep down inside, I had a feeling it wasn't working for me, but I just couldn't explain exactly how I felt.

We all react differently to all the different drugs.  Some work for one lot of people and some don't but there seems to be a few different options out there for everyone.

Hi Debbie

Tears come at the most extraordinary times and for no particular reason at all.   A hysterectomy is a very serious operation on its own, let alone with everything else you've been through - your hormones will be all over the place.  Be gentle with yourself - you are going through so much and your feelings are not stupid - I have had tears come in much more public places than a lift!

I hope you are feeling stronger now.

I see my surgeon every 3mths for a checkup and all she does is a breast examination.I see my oncologist every 6mths and he just asks how I'm going with Tamoxifen.I haven't had a blood test or xray for a year now.I think this is standard practise for early breast cancer Debbie so don't get too worried. Femara and Tamoxifen are very different drugs so you can't compare their strengths.You sure have been through alot of surgery.That's bound to make you a bit teary.Hope you are recovering ok.Take care-love your pic.
