Have you had issues with the Victorian patient travel scheme?

Hi all,

In collaboration with the Cancer Council Victoria and the McCabe Centre for Law and Cancer, we are currently campaigning to improve the Victorian Patient Transport Assistance Scheme (VPTAS).

The scheme provides people in regional and rural Victoria with financial assistance towards the cost of travelling to and staying near medical treatment services.

We are looking for people who are happy to share their story to help with the campaign. You can choose to be anonymous if you wish.

In particular, we would like to hear from you if:

  • you experienced significant out-of-pocket costs for travel and accommodation for treatment, even with VPTAS reimbursements
  • you were not eligible for VPTAS assistance because you were just under the 100 kilometre threshold
  • you experienced long delays in receiving VPTAS reimbursements.

If you have experienced issues with VPTAS and are willing to share your story, please comment on this blog or send me an email at policy@bcna.org.au.
