Poor little Missy, it must be hard trying to ward off illnesses.  I'm sure she is well looked after and protected by you.  I might have to try that idea with the goats, although my partner absolutely loves 'the girls' too, they follow him everywhere (just like dogs) - so I think if they ever did have babies, he would be besotted with them too.

Thanks for the explanation of the 'spit' - I still dont think I would like to cop it,  haha.

What a great letter, love reading the waffle, I laughed lots and cannot believe how much your partner is just like mine.  Like you I name all animals that enter this home.  So yes, they are instantly pets not for anything else.

Very sad about your baby alpaca, and Lucy, but it does sound as though Big Al is doing great.  The reason they spit at males is because they think they might become amourous towards the female.  So they are just warning.

The spitt is just dried grass mixed with stomach juice, the stomach gases are what cause the smell, when it dries you just brush it off. 

How wonderful if you were allowed to buy a male to have more babies.  Just pretend you will sell them for meat, then when the time comes, put on a real good show of sadness about your babies going, he wont be able to resist you.  Then you can keep them all.

Addisons disease is a human disease as well, it affects the adrenal gland, so little Missy is suseptible to any and every infection, sickness, disease etc you can get.  They have no immune system.  But she is so spoiled and wrapped in the soffest cotton that nothing will get to her.

i would love more animals, dog especially, by my partner wont let me either!  Says we have enough to worry about with the ones we already have.

Not sure about the boer goats (their bodies are white with chestnut heads), beautiful to look at.  I believe they are very good to eat, very lean and healthy. I think that was the original idea when we shifted up here (3 years ago), partner was going to breed them to sell - but we have 'a rule' that if an animal has a name - then it cant be killed or eaten.  I just make sure I name everything as soon as it comes to live with us - haha!  I think (but dont quote me) that some are dairy goats as well.  We have an all white boer goat and apparently she is for dairy????  Thats what the guy told us when we got them.  We have 3 girls, and I keep nagging my partner to buy a male so that I can have little 'babies', but now that I wont let him kill  them (shhh - dont tell 'the girls'), he's not too keen on the idea.

Not sure what sort of Alpaca we have.  He is all white and his name is Big Al.  We actually purchased two (Al and a pregnant female - Lucy).  She gave birth and just abandoned the baby, so we tried to hand rear her without any success.  We took her to the vets twice, but unfortunately they were not experienced with alpaca's and couldnt offer any advice.  Poor little darlin', she was so beautiful.  Then 6 months later, we went out into the paddock and Lucy was dead, no apparent reason.  Poor Al was devastated and missed her terribly, so we put him out with the sheep and now he appears to be happy.  He is the boss and just loves the little lambs, and the sheep follow him everywhere!.  I have never had the pleasure (haha) of being on the receiving end of a spit - but the female did it to my partner a couple of times.  I believe it's not very pleasant!!!

What is Addisons disease - it seems to ring a bell - is that something that humans can get??  Poor little dog - its awful when they get sick!!!  My little dog, Lilly, is a bit like yours - when outside she follows partner everywhere, but once inside she becomes a 'real mummys girl' - I cant sit down without her wantingto get on my lap (she weighs 6ks now and is getting it bit heavy for my 'old' legs).  When I am on the pc she sits at my feet and just begs to be picked up - but I dont mind - I just love her to pieces!!!

I seem to have waffled on a bit, but it all makes a nice break from the cancer stuff!!!

well i have to say i am a bit jealous of all your animals, I want more but darling wont let me.  What is a boer goat, are they bred for a special reason.  What type of alpaca do you have.  I have two there names are Pandora and Desert Skye. We have them to protect the chooks.

  They are so sweet and we talk to each other, but the other day i was talking with the baby one Skye and saying mmmmm   mmmmmmmmmm         mmmmmmmmm    then suddenly I could see that the older one Pandora was just about to spit at me, so i stepped back.  I would luv to know what I said that upset her.

And a spoilt 10mth old baby, boy do you have your hands full.  Out dear little jack russell cross has Addisons disease.  There are only 1 in 10,000 dogs who have it.  She is on tablets for the rest of her life.  Missy is a real daddy's girl, she hangs out in the shed with him, follows him everywhere, except when on the ride-on.

I am the one that does all the yucky stuff, like give tablets clean out ears, cut nails, etc etc but I also feed her so I am damned if I know why she just adores her daddy.  I think she just tolerates me. But thats ok cause i luv and kiss and cuddle her as much as the others.

I love animals too.  Have 2 dogs, 2 cats, 1 galah, 3 boer goats (pets), 1 alpaca (pet) and 50 sheep (not pets).  My favourite is my puppy Lilly, 10 mth old Jack Russell and 'spoilt rotten!!!'

Hi Di,

How prescious to have another wonderful child in your life.  She sounds tiny and gorgeous.  I have never had human babies, so I substitue with animals instead.  Have lots and love them all the same, no thats a lie I do have my favourites.

Cant chat long today going in to have stuff injected into my right breast for surgery tomorrow.

You know it seems funny calling them breasts as I usually refer to them as the girls, which are heading south.

I still get lost around this site a little bit and miss a few comments, but nevermind we will get there in the end!

I've emptied my head of a lot of rubbish over the last couple of days.  Just welcomed a new g/daughter into the family and went down to Melb to see her for the first time.  She is sooooooooooo cute and so tiny (6lbs), born 31/1 and her name is Bailey Olivia.  This is my son and DIL's first child and my daughter has 5, so litle Bailey makes 6 altogether.  It is lovely to be able to push all the 'cancer rubbish' aside and concentrate on something else for a while.

Hi Galaxy Sue

just a quickie to let you know that after the first cycle of Xeloda, one of my cancer markers had dropped by 97 and the other marker by 3.  I am thrilled and my onco was quite surprised that it had worked so quickly.  He told me not to expect to see a change for a couple of cycles. 

I have a couple of days left of this 2nd cycle, then move on to the week off - so hopefully 'it' is still working its magic!.
