Happiness is a shopping spree with the girls
Just thought I'd share the amazing day I had yesterday with my favourite bosom buddies, my team of friends who have been there from day 1. They escorted me into the city yesterday to shop for a prosthesis. Despite my earlier concerns it would make some uncomfortable if I flashed my scar at them, I needn't have worried. I'm 6 weeks post mastectomy and had a fitting for a breast form. We were amazed at the weight of it (even though I'm a small B cup). So after passing around 'my new boob', to feel its weight, (LOL) I then tried on various bras and swimming costumes. We had quite a few laughs. Really appreciate the expertise of my fitter, who knew her stuff when it came to mastectomies, prosthesis, bras, etc with a beautiful caring attitude. An amazing feeling walking out of the change room in a t shirt the first time "Can you tell which one's the fake?"
Despite starting to lose my hair from first chemo 2 weeks ago, I walked out of the shop with a grin on my face, head held high ready to face whatever else will be thrown at me. This is a pretty crappy journey we're all on, but there was some joy yesterday. Thanks for the mammaries!
All the best to all of you out there,
Karen xx
