Hair we go!

Well,it is two weeks today since my first chemo, and my hair is coming out everywhere! My eyebrows went first, then everywhere else.I am so glad now that I got most of my hair off before I started chemo.I got the shortest cut possible, without actually shaving it.Anyway, apart from this ,I am feeling really well so nothing to complain about!Hope everyone else is doing ok too.Cheers.Robyn.

  • Yes isn't this network great! Its interesting really isn't it,how we all help and support each other, and most certainly we come from different states, different cultural backgrounds and have many social differences. But when we all have a common thread, nothing else matters, only our ability to be there for each otter.Wouldn't it be great if life was always like that?A few weeks ago,I was pretty new to all this, and now you ,and many other ladies are behind me.In another few weeks, ladies will be looking to follow your journey and example. All the best Jenny, and seriously don't worry too much about chemo!Robynxox
  • How fab that you have gotten through the first round.....and you sound pretty confident about "no hair" situation...this is something that will be pretty hard for me but as Janey said, we all get used to it eventually!

I look forward to following your journey as I am right behind you.....see the oncologist this Friday...yikes!

So great we have such a wonderful network available to us....esp for those (me!) who live in rurally too....we really are lucky!

Good luck with your "one day at a time" x

  • Hi Jodie,The chemo I am having is DC, which is Docetaxel and Cyclophosphamide.I will be thinking of you next week, and remember,it is SO important to drink your water, leading up to ,during and 2 .days after your chemo.I have never drank so much water in my life, and I actually bought a 3 litre jug,so I could monitor how much I drank!Good luck and keep smiling:) Robynxox
  • Hi Robyn, Recovery is going ok. My drain came out yesterday after 10 days. There is a small infection which is being treated with antibiotics. My port gets put inon Friday ready for chemo next week. What chemo are you on? You may have said I just can't remember xxx You are an inspiration to me with how you are handling it. I'm praying I handle it like you :-)
  • Thanks for your reply Janey.I am feeling pretty lucky with how my first round has gone.I am not too bothered with the hair loss thing, and I actually found some really nice hats and bandanas. My children all reckon I look so much better with them than I did with hair!!!!Not sure how I feel about that, lol.!And yes Janey,I agree with you when you say that having no eyebrows AND wearing a scarf is like waving a "I have cancer flag"I hope you are continuing to recover well also.Take care.Robyn.xox
  • Thanks Jodie.I am sure you will do well with your chemo.I will be following you with interest,as your first one is just a couple of days after mine.By the way, how is your recovery going following surgery..xox Robyn.
  • I'm so glad you are doing well with your first round of chemo done and you're not suffering from bad side effects. Well the loss of hair was inevitable wasn't it. I had some nice comments about the scarves I wore but I also remember being stared at as if the scarves said loud and clear that I had cancer. Actually I think it was the scarves AND the no eyebrows. Funny how intrigued people are about differences. Anyway after a while I lost my self consciousness and didn't event notice. You will get used to it too. I hope things continue to go very well for you. Love Janey xxx
