Love the photo!

I was wearing hats through my baldness period:) I finished my chemo and rads and went on a family holiday for 2 weeks, on my return I stopped wearing hats as I had "just" enough hair that my hairdresser said she'd dye it...it looked thicker with the colour and tidy up...so that would have been around 8 - 10 weeks after last dose of Taxol... :) here's to long beautiful hair, short curly hair, straight flat hair...here's to any sort of hair!!! x

Amazing how our hair can change how we look.  You look beautiful in both photos with both red and blonde hair and I am sure you look beautiful bald as well.  I do find it hard when people say you look beautiful bald but some ladies can pull it off but I don't believe I am one of them.  hee hee well done.

Hi Girls

I am now on day 16 since my last dose of Taxotere/Cyclophosphamide (I had 4). My hair actually started to grow back about a month ago but it is a munted, dead, white, affair. Its really thin but already about a centimetre long! I laugh every time I walk through the breezeway of my house because I can feel it bouncing and waving as I move! Must look hilarious to anyone that I dared to get close enough. I dont leave the house without something to cover my ugly dome so my family and I are the only ones to see it ;-) I also have the thicker darker stuff coming through at the back and on my "cow lick" crown. My hair used to be strawberry blonde in my youth and I have been dying it to all sorts of funky colours since I started to lose that colour in my 40's (I'm now almost 51) so I dont know if this white fluff will also fall out or not. I am playing with the idea of a clipper number one soon, too but its sort of nice to look in the mirror and see something. I have always had VERY strong, dead straight hair with a mind of its own and this stuff has a slight curl to it... I am hoping for luxuriously tight curls - dont care what colour because a bottle can always decide that for me. I am also lucky enough that I managed to keep enough eyebrows to still see a line to draw on when I go out and I still have eyelashes to paint mascara on to. The bonus is.... I got that brazilian I was always too embarrassed to pay for! I am soooo hoping I get to keep it! You can see on my profile pic that my wig is a nice subtle colour (though I mainly wear turbans as they are more comfortable in the tropics) and I have attached a pic of the colour I chose to see out my hair when I started chemo. It started to fall out by day 14 post Chemo number 2. Hope this info helps.. one more thing - losing my hair was the most devastating concern for me in the lead up to chemo but when I went to my "Look Good, Feel Better" workshop I met three ladies who were wearing wigs and I had no idea! The wigs you can get nowadays are so realistic and mine (her name is "Coco") has visited my hairdresser as I have requested this colour and style when my own hair returns. Happy Hair Days, girls  <3

My hair started to sprout lil bits only not long after chemo, might have even started slightly around time of last chemo.  It was so fair and light to start with it was hard to see and it still is but there is more of it now and some black bits in there as well.  I also don'r have a lot on the top which has been worrying me but I feel better now.  I had 3 FEC and last 3 were Taxotere.  I think what chemo you have does make a difference.   I had my last chemo 20 June this year.

We are all different and our hair will grow back differently.  I have other body hair returning now as well which is a bummer as much nicer with out all of that to worry about and my eyebrown and eyelashes have started sprouting in the last week.

It isn't long enough for me to go without hat or wig yet which is a bummer as I am hanging out for that day.

Yours will grow I am sure.

I had my last dose of TaxotereClyclophosphamide on 2 May and I noticed light fuzz in early July - actually, the family noticed light fuzz on my head. I have been impatiently waiting for serious hair growth. Hair at the back of my head is thicker than the top so still waiting for growth before I ditch the wig and headgear. 

Hair was straight before chemo and whatever is growing now is still straight. No curls for me.

Yes I really loved reading the post from Joey about "show us your nuts" and I think I did put a photo up on there then. 

My hair is a very very short stubble all over my head at the moment which is sort of salt and pepper colour and has a funny lil widow peak in the front.  I am getting a number 1 trim next week as I am told it helps yoru hair to grow back more evenly so I will give that a go.  I have noticed that some hairs are sprouting faster than others so might be worthwhile.  On the other hand I feel guilty chopping any of it off when I am so desperate for it to grow hee hee.  I am assured it will help it but.

I just find it interesting about our hair because it is such a devastating part of our journey to lose our hair and to have to endure being bald for a length of time. Then when it grows back - the reaction/feelings the girls have about their new locks. 

I am sure I will be very grateful for whatever comes back as long as my whole head is covered cause that is a fear that I have that I will have bald patches. Silly I know but just another lil thing I worry about.  I do plan to keep it short when it returns though cause I got so many positive comments when I started cutting my hair shorter in readiness for the falling out stage.

Hi Mich - Maybe you could think about uploading before and after photos (simply select the camera when writing either a comment or blog post).

There was a great post earlier in the year called 'Show us your nuts' by Joey and it was a great way to share the experience of loosing hair during Chemo - but I love your idea of how hair was before and then after chemo.

I did lose all my hair everywhere!!!

Before Chemo I had long reddish curly hair...I had it cut short prior to surgery and shorter again before chemo, but it fell out really fast, gone before week 2.

Came back curly like a pottie calf :) and lots more grey, but my hairdresser said that was nothing she couldn't fix...so now I have longish blondish wavy hair:)

My airm hairs aren't as thick but my legs ...mmm no change there!
