Hair almost all gone!!
Hi all,
Well my hair has almost all gone! It has happened so quickly - almost 3 weeks to the day since my first round of chemo. I must confess I wasn't ready for it to fall out so quickly. I am of...
hi al,
sorry, cannot recommend cream to rub on scalp.
i did not lose my hair completely; it thinned gradually. ( must have been different chemo drugs) i wore a baseball cap as it was summer. i bought a wig, but only wore it once. i have a few pictures when i had chemo and i looked a bit pale, but my family did not mind, and time passes..soon it is over.
i " freaked" at the thought of losing my hair beforehand; not sure if i would cope with that..lol.. but people do.
my hair did thin gradually, quite a bit though by last chemo, and hair stopped growing. it had a" kink "in it when it started growing back, so i had a fuzz look for a while.
but its not so bad really, except people would know, and hard if you want your treatment to remain private, although you can wear a wig.
you see quite a few with turbans, etc. a young woman who lives in my town actually has alopecia and wears a covering all the time, but gets about fine, and has a bright personality and smile to match!
you are still YOU, no matter what remember.
the" look good, feel good" programmes can help with tips also. i did not go to that actually, as it was an hour away, and i had other appointments at the time but i think it might have helped me as you would meet others in similar situation.
everyone is different and treatments/ situations are different, but if i can help allay any anxiety/ fear i am happy to do so.
best wishes, kathy.
