had my third chemo session yesterday

Good Morning Ladies,

I'm not feeling to good today, I had a very long day yesterday at 9.00am I had an OT appointment about getting a start on getting my lymphodema sorted out and I found out I have cording too so they explained everything to us and showed my hubby some exercises to help with the cording and she was happy we got onto it early but those exercises were painful and I was in so much pain by the time she showed Priya how to do them I couldn't take anymore and he'd start and I would flynch and the poor thing thought he was hurting me, we have to go back and see her on the 19/10 but now I have to wear a sleeve and half glove on my hand I kind of look like Michael Jackson with the glove need some sequens LOL, I was late for my chemo and I thought I would get in trouble but they were good with it that's when the dramas started.

I have a port in my chest and they can't get blood out of it so the last 2 blood tests have had to be done the normal way but that's okay but yesterday they had to send me again for an xray to see if everything was working okay with the needle in and it was so chemo was delayed for a little while so when I got back they managed to give me my pre meds through the port and then after the premeds it just wouldn't work they tried repositioning the needle no luck so we decided on a Canula it was 1.00pm before chemo started I was exhausted by this stage had no appetite eventually ate a salad sandwich and 1 and 1/2 biscuits but nothing else it takes 2 and 1/2 hours for my chemo last round of FEC in 3 weeks 12 rounds of docetaxel instead of 3 as it apparently reduces side effects but the nurses call it a different drug starting with P, my husband just sat there so patient and attentive and could see how tired and weak I was It broke my heart, My Breast Care Nurse came to see me and also was very concerned with how I looked even though I had make up on, can't wait for Look Good Feel Better on the 12/10 and my cousin coming on the 22/10 something to work towards we haven't seen each other for 8 years she hasn't seen Angelena since she was 1. I made up with my best friend she's had a lot of issues at home so I understand and I've learnt life is too short to hold grudges but my self esteem is a little low probably as I'm not feeling 100% today, I don't have much appetite but the nausia tablets helped this morning but i could only fit 3 spoons of cereal just enough to take my tablets I usually don't suffer with Nausia but my Godmother,s son had bc and he told his mum to tell me every chemo is different so I just take it in my stride and my daughter is having bullying issues at school and I can't be there to sort them out thank goodness for email and the good relationship I have developed with the school over the years all the teachers and staff are keeping an eye on her for me, well I think I've vented enough today I hope I don't bring anyone down, sending a cuddle and a smile to everyone.

    Hi Trace,

I rested this morning and I'm feeling ok this afternoon thank goodness, I'm not used to the nausia because I've never had it lucky me but last night oh boy, I took my dexamethasone this morning and felt better but it's when I'm not taking it that's when the insomnia really sets in my breast care nurse suggested an over the counter herbal tablet as I don't like sleeping tablets, my lovely hubby rang me this morning to see how I was feeling which was really sweet we are having a little bit of trouble with my port but it will get sorted out they were waiting for the report from xray so when I go for my bloods we'll probably take it from my hand but we'll probably have better luck with my next chemo as they'll know why there is a problem. The bullying issue has been sorted out today, I'm so lucky with the school and they watch her and their has been no changes as far as her schoolwork goes in fact she's doing better maybe it stops her from thinking mum is sick and having treatment, but she's also at the top of her class amongst the year 3's in her class as it's a 3/4 class she likes to keep up with the year 4's and wants to be a scientist we are so proud of her and I am so proud of the way she's handling my bc, my mother in law I just tolerate as I know she's not going to change, good news my best friend and I are all good now, she had a lot going on at home and told me don't be silly she's allways there for me and she loves heaps just like a sister and she was a little upset that my chemo will go for an extra 3 weeks but was trying not to show it when I saw her yesterday morning I said to her Kelly don't cry and she said I'm not crying because she's so sensitive a lot like me, I'm just happy we are ok and it was just a miscommunication, I'm feeling much better we're going shopping on the weekend as I need tops that open at the front easier for the nurses just haven't had the chance to get to target or wherever we go and I am going to buy a colouring book and some pencils, I suppose it'll take time to get used to this compression sleeve and glove, I feel like michael jackson with the glove LOL, needs sequins LOL well I hope to chat soon as Angelena will be home from school soon, sending you a big cuddle and a huge smile.

  • Hi Tracy,

Yeah the days when the fatigue gets you down you feel like crap, I had a rest this morning and I have some energy now, usually the day after chemo I'm okay but not this time maybe because it was such a long day yesterday, but every chemo is different they say but the insomnia is the pits I think that's what wears me out the most, I'm lucky with exercising my arm but I knew I was getting Lymphodema because of the pain when I moved it when I had my 2nd chemo I mentioned it to one of my breast nurses and she kindly organised an OT appointment and the OT said it's not too bad at the moment and it's a good time to get it under control, yesterday was my final FEC treatment and my first treatment of the pax is on the 26/10 which is just after my cousin goes back to Sydney she lives in Edensor Park in Liverpool she goes home in the early hours of monday morning so another long day I can sleep when we get back from the airport which is only 20 minutes from us luckily, only 6 more days to look good feel better can't wait just like I can't wait till my daughter gets home about 3pm from school she allways runs to me and gives the biggest hugs she's my life as well as my adorable husband, who is the best thing that ever happened to me other than Angelena, sending you a big cuddle and a big smile.

What an awful day for you Anita, you'll be glad to finish with FEC, the docetaxol doesn't make you feel as nauseous, so that'll be better for you. The dexamethasone was the thing that gave me insomnia as well, I do hope that you're feeling better soon. Try a boiled egg, as that is what helped to ease my nausea, sounds weird, but it worked for me. It's good that your husband is helping you with your lymphoedema massage, my hubby helps me with mine, and it makes a big difference. I hope that the bullying issues ease for your daughter, glad that the school is on to it for you. Here's sending you a big cuddle, hope that you're on top of it all soon, Trace ??????
