had my auxillary node clearance wednesday

Hi there ladies,

I had my auxillary node clearance on the 29/7 and I'm so glad it's done now my surgeon wants to keep me in hospital for 5 days so I hopefully go home on Monday I haven't had much pain until last night I had to take pain killers just to get to sleep other than that I've been better than I expected my husband has been amazingly supportive but my daughter got sick and has to go to the doctors this afternoon I don't like not being there when she's sick I just want to give her a cuddle to make her feel better, my doctor should be here soon, talk to you later, lots of cyber cuddles.

Hi Anita, I also had long hair past my shoulders, and have lost the lot with chemo. I prepared by getting a wig and hats ready. My first wig was shoulder length. I took it to my hairdresser and had my hair cut into that style. My hair fell out about 2 weeks after my first chemo, so I had the remnants clipper end and wear my wig when I'm out. Hats at home as they're more comfy. Recently I purchased a shorter wig, and people just think that I've had a trim. I reckon if you're prepared, it won't be as bad, and there are some lovely felt hats around that are fashoinable. I also got onto YouTube and found a segment on how to apply makeup, so you feel brighter. Keep the lippy on, and it'll keep you bright. Sending you a big cuddle, Trace xxxx

  • Hi Tracey,

I am also glad they have kept mein hospital it's been nice to rest as I know I have a long journey ahead I'm getting my hair cut into a pixie cut because that will make it will probably help when my hair falls out with chemo as from what I've been told by my breast nurse it can be more  of a shock than being diagnosed and most of  my life I've had long hair it's part of who I am, my husband has been amazing but he's scared too, my bc is hormone receptor + so we have discussed having my ovaries removed but my surgeon said to wait and speak to the oncologist but he said he can do the surgery anyway I should be able to go home tomorrow or monday depending on my drain well I might try and getsome rest sending you a cuddle back.

Hi Anita, glad your auxiliary clearance went well. I'm glad that they are keeping you in hospital, as you'll need the rest. Once you get your results and you know what you are up against, it will be easier for you to move forward. Sounds like your husband is great support. Take good care of you, sending you a cuddle, Tracey B ????

  • Hi Anita good to hear you are doing well, another step forward. It is always hard as a mum not to be there for our kids every waking moments but we are only human. Rest while you can in hospital hope the food isn't to bad. hugs backx
