Hack that may help

Hey All, mum commencing cycle 2 TC this week. Was speaking with my cousin who supported her mum through a different cancer inc chemo and aside from us typically experiencing similar things since we were girls, she had to do similar so I thought I’d offer it incase it helps others.
Unfortunately most of the chemo edu happened the night before or day of the first dose, and even if one understands medication that’s not the best timing to understand what to take for what. Completely separately, my cousin and I did up a little box of meds with a card/note of what medication for what reason/symptom and dosing. With both our mum’s it helped increase/maintain independence and assist with medication safety, I have my mum writing down what time she takes what medication so I can double check as needed as she got forgetful, though with medication this pre-dates chemo in her case. I can link a sample if requested, it’s pretty generic, but it’s been helpful, and my cousin said the same idea was helpful for her mum.

In short- a small box of meds with a simple card/note of what medication for what symptom/purpose.

Keep well 🌺
  • Of course can adjust and amend depending on protocol, but this has helped mum, and we have a separate sheet for the management of the couple of day either side of chemo when she takes steroids and has to check blood sugars (she diabetic). Can redo and amend as needed but so far helpful for her. Hth someone else 🌺
