Hi rob45, thanks for taking the time to reply to my post. My onc, did say to me that once my treatment is over the chances of the cancer coming back are low, in fact he said once my treatment is over I would probably never have cancer again....so that is a great thing to hear. I suppose sometimes we all just do the 'what if 'thing and relapse. I have been positive all the way through treatment and looked at that part of it as my medicine for getting better. I did ok with chemo, just ticked each one off as I went along(6 cycles in all). Radiotherapy was 6 weeks all up, went fast the staff were great, always went for a nice coffee afterwards or did a bit of shopping to break it up. I too was scared about starting chemo, but you know what, fear of the unknown is sometimes greater than reality. You will have your off days, but you do pick up, in fact another lady who I had chemo with wasn't affected at all, everyone is different. I felt some nausea, had mouth ulcers, and had a terrible taste in my mouth, icy poles helped me, but I kept eating everything as I normally would. also had some aches and pains with the 2nd drug, but otherwise I got through it rather well. As far as losing my hair was concerned, I dreaded the thought of it falling out, I purchased a wig that looked very similar to my colour and style. The funny thing is NO ONE noticed I was wearing a wig, I actually received complements on my hair do! I even had a stranger ask me who does my hair because she loved the style, she nearly fell over when I told her it was a wig. My hair was long and I've always been a bit of a glamour gal, love doing my hair and make up. It started coming out in clumps after my 2nd chemo, so I just cut it short and when I went out popped my wig on....saved heaps of time not having to blow dry my hair!!! :-)) I'm going to actually miss wearing my wig because it really always looks great. So you know what it really never became an issue, when my eyelashes fell out I purchased some falsies at priceline, so I still looked Fab :-))) although it did take some time to master those, as in the begining I ended up with glue all over my eyelids...some women prefer scarves or hats that's fine too, do whatever you feel comfortable with. You will look back and realise they are all just little bumps on the road to get through. Good luck for Monday, I will be thinking about you, if you ever need someone to chat to or ask questions, just drop me a line any time, I will always get back to you.
With love and best wishes xoxoxox
