You will get used to them. I sleep with a fan on now, even in winter. I have a doona which I flip on and off all night. I sort of half wake and do it and half wake and pull it back on when I am freezing. My night ones aren't as bad as the day ones. Some day ones seem to be activated with emotions like stress or excitement. Some are mild and I slip my coat and slippers off for a few minutes and back on but others are like pin pricks where I need to put the fan on and rub a wet towel on my face and back of neck. The heat seems to originate from the back of my neck and my son put his hand there during and episode and went omg it is very hot. Just when you think you will internally combust, it subsides. Either they get less often or you learn to adapt. It is what it is I'm afraid. Edit- almost forgot, carry a water bottle with you at all times. The cold water in your belly makes a flush pass faster, especially when you are out.
