Goodbye Arimidex

After a month off Arimidex my Onc has decided to put me on Tamoxifen. My body could not tolerate the Arimidex, I got a rare side effect that I just couldn't live with.

So today is day 1 on Tamoxifen, I do hope I have better luck with this drug, fingers crossed for me ladies.

On the bright side we spent our 1st weekend at our little weekender this weekend and loved it, though silly me didn't check and it was super bike weekend on The Island, the place was full of bikers! I had some fun shopping to styling the place, its very different from home.

    Thats a good thought, I was wondering why I would get the same result though have just thought that perhaps its not all out of my system. But no one has mentioned that it could have been caused by radiation.

    Now my sore and heavy breast yes, they say thats rads. Its all so complicated isn't it? I am trying to fit back into work and not cause too many waves but I do get so tired and these issues just don't help.

    The dead arm thing may be related to some of your other treatment. Surgery and radiation effects can change months and even years later and I had a lot of trouble with my arm after radiation but this was also when I started tamoxifen. Both the radiation oncologist and the medical oncologist have thought that my issues are from the radiation not the tamoxifen. I have had physio and now am doing Pinc Pilates and have had a lot of improvement. If you having the same effect from different medication it might be something else causing the problem.     Hi Donna Guess you will just have to give it a couple of months and if the arm is still tingling you see the onc again. My understanding is there are a few drugs so it is just trial and error till you get the one with the least side effects. It's always something though isnt't Hopefully you will be right with the Tamoxifen. Marion xx

    Hi Donna Hope you have better luck with the Tamoxifen. I have bee in Arimidex for the last 4 years now and body seems to be coping ok. Initial problems but seems to be ok now. Hope your body sorts itself out with the Tamoxifen with little side effects. Xx

    I have been on tamoxifen for just over a year without any major problems - just mild hot flushes which seem to be lessening over time. Sometimes I wonder whether my early waking is due to the drug but possibly it's just me. I take mine in the morning - I thought it would be less likely to affect my sleep that way. But it probably doesn't matter when you take it. i certainly haven't had any muscle fatigue while taking it (except when I have done strenuous exercise and you would expect to get muscle fatigue.) Good luck with it. I hope  it is better for you than the arimidex. Janet.

    Good luck with Tamoxifen.I have been on it now for 5 weeks and no problem at all.The first few days I felt slightly nauseous after taking it.I think it definitely helps to take it immediately before dinner,and with a large glass of water.Keen to know how you go.How great to have a weekender.That is something I would love.Cheers Robyn.
