Good cycles, bad cycles

hi jenny , when i was having chemo the chemo nurses gave us a bag with ,ginger beer in it and plain crisps and i have been having plain crisps for nausea well before my cancer, maybe its the potasium i dont know worked for me still does. 

it is so hard going through chemo, i know when i got so sick after my second lot i had to wait a while before i could start again, as was to sick. when i finally was well enough to start again , i had to force myself to go through the doors to the oncology unit. i kept telling my husband Daryl i cant do this again , i dont want to die, the nurses were great and just let me sit till i was ready then  i was okay. still got tired and crook but not as bad as i was having the injection 24hrs after each chemo. it's awful that to rid us of cancer they have to almost kill us. god i hope they find a cure soon. 

Hi Jenny, by the looks of things you are having similar drugs to me.  My first chemo I was 'bouncing off the walls' for the first two days - I thought whats the big deal (apparently that was the steroids) my second chemo hit me like a Mack truck for the whole three weeks! I was so tired, and ached and ached - to add to my worries we found out we had to move house! I had my third chemo yesterday and I guess taking carloads and carloads of household items over to the new house has 'distracted me' somewhat! but I am pretty tired I must say.  I find eating ginger and ginger beer is great for the nausea, but different strokes for different folks.  I hope you feel better the next round - bit of a mixed bag isn't it! Sometimes you think, I can do this, other times you don't think you can - but you will and you will be fine x x x Josie

First of all I would like to say that I admire you for going to work in between you chemo rounds. I have been through 5 cycles of chemo and I am having my last cycle next wed. I have felt different after each cycle. The only thing that was a common accurance was the tiredness and metallic taste which both seem to have gotten worse with each cycle. I also found that as I progressed in my treatment new side affects came along like heart burn and nausea due to the build up of chemo in my system. I did find that after round 3 was one of my worst times for me so far. As it has been different each time I don't have any expectations as how I am going feel and what side affects I will have just that from day 3 to 6 will be my worst.  When I am feeling really crappy I remember what the dr said to me " If it is making you feel sick imagine what it is doing to the cancer". Hang in there and it will be over before you know like it is for me.

Thanks girls, I know I shouldn't complain, as there is no other option that bears thinking about, so I just have to get on with this! I have had the neulasta after each cycle and I think that is what gives me the aches and pains, yet thankfully so far has prevented any infections!

Elisha I am having the TAC regime, Doxurubicin, Taxotare and Cyclophosphide, plis I am doing clinical trials of another drug!

I don't get any nausea or vomiting but I get really upset stomachs (once the constipation has stopped after day 4) and end up running to the toilet about 8 times a day for about a week! I feel the weakest I have ever felt in my life!!

Thank God for my supportive, adoring and wobderful husband, who looks after me like a princess!

I am not going to lie to you because i had people lie to me and it doesn't help but keep in mind everyone is different...

My 3rd, 4th and 5th were the worst i think our patience run thinner and thinner each time also and you feel like when you get back up they keep knocking you down...

My 6th on the other hand was a dream compared to the rest minimal nausea to the rest i couldn't believe how great i felt but is that because i knew it was my last and my mind was in a better place? who knows i think it had a little to do with it... 

I couldnt see the finish line until after my 6th it seemed so far away but i made it and so will you and when its here it all seems like it went by so quickly...
