Hi there. I'm a new user of this network so still finding my way around.
It's been 16 months since I had my mastectomy and axillary clearance. Chemo finished last June and Radiotherapy last Augus...
Just when you think things are improving just a little, even though the peripheral neuropathy is far from gone, I have found that there is some relief after taking Mega B, or maybe I'm just getting used to it all, I really don't know but I must admit that sometimes it feels quite bearable, then other times it seems to get very angry and painful again. To top all that off, I have now been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes but realise that this is at the stage where it is controllable and it is entirely up to me to do that. It just needs discipline and watching my diet and being a little more aware of what I am eating and of course exercise (which is pretty difficult when you have neuropathy in your feet and hands!!!) I did try to walk the other day (only a bit over a km) and my feet felt like I had been walking in shoes that were too tight all day, so painful and have been in pain since. I have been bike riding as well and even though that is a little less painful on my feet, I do find that my hands get worse but I am going to persist and try to keep bike riding for at least 1/2 hour when I can and will try walking again later. One positive thing about all this is that I am starting a new job shortly. It is a lot less stress than the job I had and is only casual a couple of days a week. It is the first time I have been back to work since my op 18 months ago so am hoping I can manage it OK. I really feel that I need to do this as it will boost my confidence and give me a feeling of self worth after all the negatives that have been happening for the past 18 months. I am so looking forward to it.
