getting started

I have started to spread the word. I have put my display with the information sheets in the local post office and the doctor who flys in once a week has taken one to his surgery in Merimbula. I have also put up posters around the hospital where I work.

From talking about the training I have 2 contacts who I will be emailing in the next couple of days to let them know I am here and a Community Liason.  for BCNA, They are a breast care nurse and womens health nurse in Cooma. Both ladies will be good to network with and am looking forward to working with them.

Anyway it is almost midnight and my eyes are popping out of my head. Goodnight all.

  • Congratulations to you both .... you've definately hit the deck running since you returned home.

It sounds as if you thoroughly enjoyed your CL training session.  Not only was it a learning curve for you all but you got to hear of so many different journeys being undertaken by women who have all been affected by Breast Cancer.

It's great to gain the confidance to share your journey with strangers and then to spread the BCNA story with your friends and associates at home.  You will be surprised how receptive and supportive people are - even strangers - because so many have a connection either directly or indirectly with Breast Cancer.

My personal theory is that there is life after cancer and I am going to live it to the max !!!!

Good luck with your endeavours and don't forget we are all in this together so if you need help with anything or just want to toss some ideas around come on line and say Hi

    Cheers .... Shirl xx.

  • Hi Rikki,

Sounds like you have made a great start.

I put some brochures in my local pharmacy & went & spoke to the Mayor.

I don't know if he took in what I was saying about BCNA as he was more interested in my illness & telling me how well I looked!!!!

I go for treatment tomorrow so will put a display up in the hospital.

I enjoyed meeting you & hope we all keep in contact.

    Cheryle
