Gallstones and gallbladder

Hey everybody

I am curious to find out how many of us have had issues with our gallbladder/gallstones following your BC treatment.

Reason I ask is I am suffering and I am due to go in on Monday to have my gallbladder removed following some agonising  and debilitating attacks of pain, nausea etc. which are getting worse each time plus I am also suffering with diarrhea every morning which I have been told can be caused by the gallstone.

I have been told it can be something that is common following BC treatment.

Curiosity has got me again.  Thanks guys.

Luv always, Mich xoxoxoxo

It is a fine line between stay on it , go off it, stay on it, go off it.............

It is good news to hear your hubby recovered well as that is what I need to hear and I am willing myself the same thing.

I always have problems when they do a liver function etc and comes back high and I didnt drink enough before to cause it to rise and I drink minimally now so it should have gone down but is still a bit of an issue and my cholesterol is not that good either.

I am hoping change of diet etc will help with everything. We can buy try and do our best.

To think I was as healthy as an ox working 3 jobs and doing 12 hour days and now I cant even get back to work.  One day though not too far in the futureI am positive of that.

We stay strong and just keep on keepin on.

  • Hello beautiful stranger

Yes my precious velcro dog Bundy is still doing very well thank you and I know what you mean about asking that question.  She is 12 and has arthritis which sometimes is hard to believe the way she can run around and she has a few lumps forming I need to get checked out but it means surgery for her and I am worried to do that to her.

It is so luvly to hear from you, how have you been going hun, has life been good to you?

Our Perth group is wonderful and we do have a great bunch of girls and have so much fun.  Unfortunately we are going to miss our beautiful Chris as her and hubby have returned to Sydney following a change in job situation.  She is one special pink sister.

I am so looking forward to the removal of this gallstone and gallbladder and getting fit and well in time for my trip with my BCNA Beastie Mel which is coming up very quickly.  I will be willing myself to wellness with not a single solitary complication to get in my way OR ELSE!!!! hahaha  I couldn't have travelled the way I am right now.

It will be my 3 year anniversary from diagnosis on 25th November which is while I am away so I will be celebrating with my special pink sister.  She also has an anniversary of her double mastectomy of 3 years ago so more reasons to celebrate.

My alien saga continues in that I have had 2 fat grafting surgeries with last one May 19th this year of which I got a lil blister from the tape which then became ulcerated due to the cells not rejuvenated enough to heal so no surgery to have the breast removed any time soon.  Surgeon has decided to give me a break until next February as I am tired, my body is tired and I also need a bit of rejuvenation.  I am so lucky I have such a wonderful surgeon and so glad I decided to go see someone in the private sector who is doing his best to get this sorted for me. Not that I can ever say a bad word about the public sector as they are marvelous and did everything they could to investigate my poor alien but couldnt find an answer. I still have lymphatic massage drainage on alien but only once a week for financial reasons and I believe that is very beneficial as well.  I also do things in an alternative sense that my Bowen/homeopath etc suggests so I am doing everything to help the lil bugger improve and it is but very very slowly.  I dont have constant pain anymore so I am extremely grateful for that.

I sincerely hope you are well and have had no health setbacks following your treatment.  Are you back at work and is that going well for you.

Luvly luvly luvly to hear from you huny, Mich xoxoxooxox

  • Just wanted to jump in and wish you all the best for Monday.  You will get instant relief when the wretched thing is gone.  How is the alien these days?  Hope everything is going well for you over there - your Perth group sounds like great fun and a really top bunch of women.  I remember Chris comforting me when this journey started in 2012 and really appreciated it.  Is Bundy still with you - almost afraid to ask..  All the very best for your op.

  • Hey Robyn

How are you hun?  Thank you so much for your luvly kind wishes.  I will jump this hurdle just like the other ones :)

I am on Femara and have been for two years now.  You are right nothing like this gets mentioned when you are put on these drugs.  I guess it is up to us to research ourselves but really what choice do we have but to continue on the drugs.  I do plan to discuss with my chemo onc what is the percentage that this drug gives me in stopping the cancer from coming back.  I have definitely considered coming off of it for a lot of reasons but i guess we just have to hang in there and suffer the consequences cause what choice do we have really.  I know this is a very touchy subject for us and an extra thing to be worried about.

I really hope you are doing well hun.

  • Mich,I'm sorry that you have yet another hurdle to get over. There is a lot of information about gallstones and Tamoxifen,in fact I have read that after 3 years on medication like Tamoxifen, your chances of gallstones are hugely increased!!! However, this is something that my oncologist has never actually told me.Are you on BC medication Mich? All the best for your operation, and I am looking forward to hearing if any other ladies have information on this subject.Cheers xox Robyn
