Fulvestrant/Faslodex - thoughts on this treatment

Hi I am new to the BCNA Network so apologies in advance if I don't get the process right !!! It has been suggested by my medical team that I start on Fulvestrant as Tamoxifin and radiation has not prevented a recurrence of lobular breast cancer (3rd time) - I am now 14 days post double mastectomy and reconstruction. I am meeting with my oncologist later today and I was hoping to get some feedback from anyone who is on this regime. Thanks Minnie61
  • One of the ladies in my support group is on this drug. She has metastises in her lymph nodes(for last 6yrs) Tamixifen stopped working earlier this year and she was put on Faslodex. It’s a 3 or 4 wkly injection. She had to pay for the first few($1,000? a pop) and if a scan proved the cancer was shrinking then she no longer had to pay. It’s working! She finds she is very tired and feels abit yuk for a week after the injection but then feels fine. Otherwise,no other side effects. Best wishes for your recovery and difficult decisions.
  • Gee third recurrence. You poor darling. Hope you are ok. Sending hugs. I havent got my treatment plan yet. Still waiting.
  • Not on it but my understanding is fulvestrant is used for hormone positive BC which is refractory to other meds, so makes sense considering the now third recurrence
