frightened again . . . .

For some years - before BC as well as after - I have had the occasional bout of labrynthitis. This leads to vertigo - it has a much longer complicated name now, but it's the same.

This week it has been with me for several days when it usually only lasts about 36 hours or so.

So of course I am frightened again.

Went to the doctor and asked for CT scan. I hate unnecessary expensive tests but I can't live with the uncertainty, the What Ifs.

But what will I do if the result ISN'T vertigo . . . . .

Crap, I hate this.

  • Scan was all clear - of course it was ! Silly old me.

But at least I know another bit doesn't have anything sinister going on - at the moment anyway. Gradually I will have had my whole body covered ! Maybe that's what we need ? A full PET scan a year after just to ease the niggly fears that soemthing else is lurking ? I guess it would be costly but is there a  price on lessening anxiety ?

I have had my yearly skin scan too and that's good.

Thanks for the responses ladies, it really helps :)

  • I too have had this and am worried sick!  I was and am still feeling so well except for the occasional bout of lightheadedness which only lasts about two seconds.  Let me know how you get on.  I am seeing the doctor on Monday and will mention this.  The worry just won't go away, its with me 24/7 for about the past ten days.  I am not tired or sick or have a headache but am so frightened.  I too wish it was a virus.  Will this watching and waiting for new or imagined symptom ever go away!

  • Oh thanks for that reply ! My goodness I hope that's it for me too , I can do a virus no problem. Managed to get a CT today ! So I'll know asap anyway.

It's driving me crazy. Turning over in bed is like being seasick :P

After the scan then I'll go back to the doc and ask about it.

    Thank you thank you.

  • Hi Magicmum,

There is a virus going around that causes dizziness, and it can take weeks to go away.  My GP prescribed Rhinocort as the sinuses were affecting the ear, and within a week the dizziness was almost gone, and within two, gone completely.  My hairdresser said a lot of her clients had the same thing and had been experiencing dizziness for weeks.  Thought it might help to hear others had it too.

Good luck with your CT scan - hope it is all clear for you.

    xx  Michelle
