Four days past - How long do the wounds take to heal?

Four days since last radiation. Severe burns, red raw under breast and underarm. No skin left on nipple. Underarm scar blistered and now blisters are coming on the boost area. It looks and feels nasty. I have all the creams suggested by the clinic, aqueous cream, solosite, solugel, hydrocortisone cream and zinc and castor oil cream as well as a stock of Panadol. Are there any suggestion for a cream for the nipple as all very painful? I originally put the castor oil cream on the wounds but that was when the skin fell off the nipple. In need of a good night of sleep. Also have the anastrozole tablets sitting waiting for me to get the courage to start taking. I was hoping to get over the burn wounds before starting. How long do the wounds take to heal?

  • Thanks for reply Maree. Three weeks past and all healed, just little pain in breast and underarm, like sharp strapping pain. I don't think the nipple will never recover fully. The nursing pads and sports top were excellent to hold it all together. Do think more information should have been available. The oncologist acknowledged I did get severe burns but I think they are used to seeing it and it has little effect on them.

  • I didn't blister but lost skin in the skin fold under breast, kept it moist with solugel. The nipple peeled and stayed very dry so was told to use pawpaw ointment, this area stayed dry for quite awhile so used the pawpaw ointment, applied it thickly, covered it with nursing pads as it was tender. Did also use the pads under the bra strap when the skin was peeling to stop any rubbing. Not sure how long it took  to clear up, used panadol but the radiologist would have prescribed codene if I couldn't manage. Hope you get some relief soon.
