Found a lump.......
A few months ago I found a lump on my right breast, went to the doctors thinking oh it will be nothing but she found it right away without me telling her where it was. Was told to go for a mammogram...

Hi there weefee ....my initial concern was a lump which was tender to the touch. I had been told on several occasions that it was a cyst (b/c lumps being painless so they say!!!!)
I eventuall moved town and therfore had a different GP who organised a mammogram and ultrasound, referral to a surgeon who did some organising of his own and ordered a needle core-biopsy .... all of this Dec 2009.
In Jan 2010 was diagnosed with B/C and had a mastectomy the same month. I was offered the choice of lumpectomy and removal of some glands or a mastectomy and removal of all glands. I opted for the latter - my reasoning being that at 62 it was unnecessary baggage so get rid of it. This was the right coice for me as the cancer was contained in the breast and hadn't moved to the glands and therefore hadn't travelled.
Fortunately I did not need chemo or radiotherapy ... but am back "on the pill" ... I'm taking Arimidex for five years.
I have recently had my 12 month mam and u/s (time flies when youre having fun!!!! The oncologist doesn't want to see me for 6 months but the surgeon wants to review the u/s in three months. There were a couple of little things bobbing around so he wants another look ...just to be on the safe side.
The moral of the tale - so to speak - don't take your body for granted. It is YOUR body and you have the right to ask for 2nd - 3rd and even 4th opinions until you have peace of mind.
