First treatment

Hi all,

I'm finally starting my treatment next Friday. I had a good chat with my oncologist and both my husband and I have decided that I should have the AC treatment for 9 weeks - 3weeks + 2+2+2 then herceptin for 12 weeks - once a week! I discovered I was also HER2 positive so I  am the 1 in 5 that has this! I'm fairly positive that I've made the correct decision even though it will take me to the end of this year before I have radio. It's just good to finally have a plan.  I was told by the oncologist that the side effects are more "gentle" than FEC D but the herceptin does have a small chance of weakening the heart muscles which scares me a bit.

Meeting with the team on Friday to discuss plan further.

    Thanks Moira. I already know what wonderful support there is out there. It is a bit scary embarking on something like this for the first time but knowing that I have this site to vent is a comfort.  My mind is racing and I'm having to prioritise all the things that I have to do to make life a little easier.
