Never used a blog before, so I don't know if I will do this right, or use it very often, we will see. Home with a cold today, so just passing time. My Surgery is Friday 29th At Royal Perth. Hope the cold is well and truly over by then.

Welcome! At least you don't have to wait too much longer for your surgery and I hope your cold clears up soon too. I turned to blogging back in 2007 when I was first diagnosed. Mainly because I live in a rural area and I felt a bit isolated both with distance and also emotionally. From my computer I could ask the questions that I thought might have been silly or ones that I had forgot to ask the surgeon. I have wonderful women online and a few that I keep in touch with regularly. I hope you are feeling better soon and wishing you a speedy recovery after surgery. Tanya

Hi there Flo, welcome to the world of Blog .... we who inhabit this place are a very friendly lot ... we love to chat and if we can be of help to you then that's a bonus (for us of course because as well as loving to chat we love to be helpful !!! LoL) What is the surgery you are going for ... hope it's not anything too drastic??? I was diagnosed in January of this year and had a mastctomy and lymph gland removal the same month. I was fortunate in as much as my cancer was isolated and hadn't travelled anywhere else in my body, so I haven't needed chemo or radiotherapy. I am on Arimidex for 5 years. Now you have ventured into Blog-land please stay in touch ..... there are plenty of us here only too happy to help out in any way at all..... so if you are uncertain or worried about anything don't hesitate to ask. Someone somewhere will have had a similar experience and be only too pleased to offer assistance. Do you have your "My Journey" kit yet? It is a free service which can be ordered here on line, and is a wealth of information. It covers everything you could wish to know and includes a journal to keep track of your appointments, medication and pathology reports and importantly your thoughts and emotions as you go on this journey. Also included is a dvd that your family can watch with you - it goes a long way to giving them a better understanding of what all of you are experiencing. Welcome and as I'm just north of you (Gero) and the weathers divine here i hope you can find a nice sunny spot in the garden to kick that cold before surgery. I am having a mini-field of pink ladies with my son on the 29th so will "plant" one for you :) We will all be here when your recovering and you will find there's heaps of beautiful woman here for you through this journey if you want info, want to laugh, cry or scream and suggest a good champaine when the time is right. hi tanya ive just joined this site and i find it so remarkable with all the stories and what us women have been through. Ive been trying to locate someone who has been through reconstruction as i had to also hav a masectomy in feb 2011 where they used my back muscle to reconstruct which came out great but im still waiting on the nipple reconstruction and not sure what its going to involve or look like. Hav you completed all your surgery if so how did you go if you dont mind sharing it with me. I finished my chemo and will be starting tamoxifin which i didnt really want to take so not sure how this will make me feel either. would love to hear from you cheers elisa

Thank you for your post and welcome to that special club we belong to! I am so pleased to be communicating with special women who as you stated can relate to each others experiences and I am so glad you are doing well after your treatment. I am also doing well, it has just been 6 weeks since my bilateral mastectomy and I started driving again on the weekend which was faboulos as it gives me back some of my independance although my friends and family have been very supportive driving me about, catching up for coffee and a chat. Although I reside in suburbia I guess living in a rural area as you do can be a blessing to be able to enjoy the peace and tranquility of your beautiful surroundings and as you are aware on line friends are always an added bonus and comfort and not to far away.

While I am off work it is giving me the chance to catch up on some of my correspondence studies which I have understandably neglected lately but am now charging along with, it is good to be utilising the time well. I hope you have a great week and look forward to chatting again soon.
