hi pip, i have only had one chemo treatment and that was 1 week ago.. and i will be having 6 altogether.. then ray treatment and the tablet for 5 years. i still have my hair, but am scared at the thought that once it falls out, then other people will know i'm having chemo. its just like you say, then do you tell other people, and having to rehash the same story... i feel exactly the same. I'm also a person who has been on the go and able to do anything.. now i'm not able to be as active and thats not so good for me physically and mentally.. sounds like we are in the same boat.. I have only told family and close friends...
i have been going to a support group at the mater hospital , newcastle. they meet once a fortnight... my second meeting is tomorrow night. i have also called cancer connect.. through the cancer council and have found them very helpful. they put you in contact with a volunteer who has been on the same journey as me.. but several years down the track. I;m waiting for her to contact me.. but hopefully it is great support... looking to join a tai chi class or something similar..
I'm married with a fantastic husband and i have 3 children. all grown up and living away from home.
