It sounds like you did extremely well. With my Chemos they almost always had 2 goes at getting the cannula in. The second chemo the nurse had 2 goes and then said, that's it I am only allowed to try twice. I was pretty worried and thought so what, we go home then?
But she got on the phone and called down a doctor from the ward. He was lovely, commented that I had good veins (probably a great tactic to calm me down!) and proceeded to get the cannula in without any more drama.
The picc will save you feeling like a pincushion and you don't need to add to the stress of chemo.
