First chemo session
Hi, my name is Jane and I live in North Queensland. it's been an "interesting" month, found a lump 2 December, diagnosed 7 December, left mastectomy 13 December (in hindsight I wish I'd had a double...
Hi Tonya, Annie and Kathleen
Thanks so much for sharing your experiences.
Tonya, I'm planning to cook up a big batch of chicken soup before next Thursday as I figure that will be something healthy and easy, hopefully I'll still like it!! Mentioned this to Peter & he keeps reminding me that he can cook too........?.........I love him dearly but the idea of living on mince and veges (his speciality) is almost as scarey as the chemo ;-)
Annie, I will also be on FEC. I know everyone reacts differently but it's comforting to know that your side effects have been manageable, I'll be sure to take a water bottle with me. I'm planning to work as much as possible during chemo, I'm a tad hypo and I don't think being at home for an extended time would be good for me!! A couple of questions about the supplements you mentioned, what were they, was your oncologist supportive of you taking them and what benefits did you feel they provided?
Kathleen, hmmmm......thanks for the tip,I may have to "endure" some manicure/pedicure sessions!! I will have been off work for 6 weeks when I return on 21 January, I would have gone back sooner only we shut down for 4 weeks over Xmas, so I don't have much choice. One of the things I am very thankful for is that losing my hair will not be a big deal for me. About 7 years ago I did shave for a cure and decided that I liked having REALLY short hair. I kept it clippered and bleached until quite recently when I decided to grow it.....in hindsight I shouldn't have bothered!! I'll find about Look Good Feel Better, I think they have sessions here. I'm a bit warey about drawing on things like eyebrows. It's very hot here at the moment and I can imagine either rubbing one and ending up with a mono brow or sweating and having them run down my face!!!
Thank you so much for replying, all the very best!
Jane
