First chemo round...

Big ~internet hug~ for you Chrissy, know that you are in my thoughts today...

sounds like wearing a scarf is a plan. I myself, havent experienced the pillow full of hair thing as yet, but i know the day is nearing. I have bought some chemo headwear, caps and a turban, just have to find a pretty scarft to add some colour to it,as its one of those that has loops, where you can thread a scaft though them.

Anyways, when you can or when you feel up to it, please let me know how you go today...once again just know we are all with you

G'day Moira,

How you doing? Hope you are holding up. I'm not doing to bad. One day at a time and littlel steps. Hair loss happening big time at the moment. Think I will get hubby to get the clippers out and take it all off. It s annoying having hair all over the place.

I had vomiting and gastric  about day 10 after chemo but I think it was a bug as my hubby had it the day before i did. It was a 24 hour thing.  Always tired and also stiff in the mornings.

One thing I have noticed is fat ankles. Seem to be holding fluid but if I sit down with my feet up its not so bad. I have it all written down in MY JOURNAL. It's a godsend. I have everything I need in one place and I just grab the journal and I have it all there. :)

Hi Caron, I too am a Coffee girl and can no longer drink it since Chemo. I am now a tea convert and the gingernut snaps are brilliant. My husband can't beleive I keep asking for tea.

I have my 2nd lot of chemo today. I woke up this morning with a pillow full of hair. I have patches missing everywhere. Think I might start wearing a scarf, at least to chemo.

Only other symtom I have had is constant nausea feeling (and always tired and stiff). Not enough to vomit just that feeling in your stomach all the time. I seem to be craving salty foods more than sweet.

Ohh yes the ginger snap biscuits work a treat, not devouring them, but...they are good to nibble at or suck on with a cup of tea i find(as i cant stand the taste of coffee at the moment...metalic taste it leaves which is yukk!!) And thats a big thing for me, as i was always one for coffee...now its hmm..cup of tea time for me!

Its been a very rough couple of days, these flu like symptoms hurt, but rest seems to be the only way i can get around some form of comfort., from it all.  Im sure it will improve ...at least if only for a couple of days, till i have the 2nd chemo which is on the 31st Jan.

hi there, how are you going with your side effects Chrissy, hope they are not knocking you about too much,  when i went through chemo, i did go through a stage of vomiting, but when i mentioned this to my oncologist, he changed the anti nausea pills, so make sure at any stage to report back how you are feeling to them, keep a note of all you are feeling in your My journey journal, and take it along to appointments with you, as there are so many things they can give to help make it a bit more bearable,but sometimes we have a side effect and we forget to mention it until it returns next chemo round , remember on this journey there are no stupid questions, let me know how you are going, Regards Moira

like you said you are one down, and every one is a plus, so take care of yourself, i to had the symptoms you are going through, i never liked ginger, but i think i went through packets of ginger snaps (good for sucking on with a cup of tea), dont know if it helped but at least i was eating, take care of yourself, and as your symptoms are showing, you have to take each day as it comes, and rest when you body tells you. please let us know how its going if you are up to it, we are all thinking of you, take care Moira

Hi there Caron,so pleased you are over the first hurdle.  As you say, at least you know what to expect from the others.  I'm so pleased that in some way our messages cheered you up .... keep up your positive attitude and enjoy the "water and salads" .... just think ahead to when you can sit down to a roast and all the vegies!!!

Make sure you take care of yourself and good luck for your visit to the oncologist.

Up and having a cup of tea, so i thought i would get online, and how lovely to have your beautiful messages awaiting me...brought a tear and a smile to my face ...so thankyou so so very much.

The first treatment went well, i was tired when i came home, so i had a rest, then next 2 days here i have had muscle ache and pain(like the flu symptoms without the runny nose etc). I am have FEC chemo, and im on 4 different lots of anit-nausea tablets, yes they work in stopping you from vomiting,but the nausea feeling is still there(coping with it, its better than vomiting). Drinking heaps of water and eating light salads when i feel the need. And rest...well the body tells me when its time to do that, with about an hour of sleep, due to the aches in my body at the moment. My normal pain meds i cannot take till Friday night, due to it reacting with the medication that i take for the pain...i say roll on friday...!!

1 one, 5 treatments to go...the next one is on the 31st January after my consultation with the Oncologyst. Least i know now what i am in for, and how my body reacts.
