First Chemo done and dusted!

Hi everyone. I had my first FEC chemo today and whilst I was a bit anxious before I went in but it all went according to plan. I was there 4 1/2 hours but a lot of that was waiting for the drs etc. I am not feeling too bad. My heart is beating a little bit fatser so that is a bit unnerving and I feel a bit fuzzy in the head. It might be the steriods that are making me a bit anxious??? Anyone experienced this? But all went well. 1 down and 5 to go!

  • Thanks for your blog Kerry. I am going surprisingly well. I keep taking my anti nausea pills and eating well. I have taken my last steroid tablet so I am hoping that wont effect me too much. My husband has a few 'boy' things planned for the weekend and he wasn't going to go but I have encouraged him to go on as per normal. We have our phones so I can always give him a ring. I might enjoy watching a few chick flicks!!!!! Nice to hear you are 9 years on!

  • Hi Tannie, I hope today has been better for you, it took me about four days to feel better after each treatment, the nausea gradually disappears after a few days and with chemo I found my love of soft jelly lollies, these made the nausea less. I don't know why !!! To this day (9 years yesterday since diagnosis) I still love jelly lollies when feeling off colour.

I will look out for you posts of your following treatments.

    Hugs to you

    Kerry x

  • Hi Tannie. Well done on the first one down. Hopefully you have some anti nausea medication to take. I needed it for the first 3 days then was fine. :). Julie

  • You are all so wonderful! Thank you for your great advice! I did end up with 'bad morning sickness' last night and went to bed and strangely enough I slept on and off. I used to get bad morning sickness when I was pregnant so it reminded me of that! Yuck..... but this morning I feel good again so just a temporary set back. One day at a time! Yes this is the road to remission and that is my biggest focus. And as a Christian I turn to God with lots and lots of prayer!

  • Hi Tanya

You are such a wonderful beauty. you started

I met my Onco yesterday and gave me the schedule to be started by 7MARCH

I'll having DC+Herceptin for 6 round.  BC nurse told me usually the 1st drip is the worse, however, if you could cope with, the rest would be smooth and fine.

Please keep update your feeling and progress, I love to know

    Keep up Xoxo

  • I used to find I was pretty good for the first day or two because of the DEX. Don't worry if you feel tired and emotional after the DEX wears off, you will come good again. I think the important thing with chemo is to go with it rather than trying to stick to any rigid ideas. Like Robyn says drink lots of water. Also rest when you need to, I used to feel a bit like I had the flu for a few days. Eat what you feel like as this helps to ease any nausea. Most of all remember chemo is temporary, any symptoms do go away and you will feel good again. Treat yourself with kid gloves for a few days and you will get through. Take care. Deanne xx
  • Well done Tanya great attitude that's exactly how I looked at chemo as well ......I'm having 6 sessions of Chemo my first3 were FEC and then 3 of Docetaxel. Yes the steroids are both your saving grace and your enemy. They make you feel wonderful but then when you come down off them I am an emotional mess.....get used to the fuzzy ness cause that does stay with you throughout treatment.......... But well done 1down only 5 to go
