Finished 3 x FEC! Now for the Docetaxel......

Hi Everyone. Well I have had my 3rd FEC last Thursday and now it is time to move on to 3 x Docetaxel. I am in total sympathy with Theresa's blog....halfway and struggling. Your advice was fantastic. How did you ladies get through this? Can I do this????

I have really bad thrush in my mouth and I am living on Nilstat but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference. Not too mention the razor blade pain sore throat! Any advice to help with this?

So my next thing is what to expect with Docetaxel? The information the hospital gave me seems a bit scary so I am a bit worried about reacting to this new drug. Does it run along the same pattern of 1 yuck week, 1 ok week and then 1 good week? Are there still the same crazy food cravings? What about the nausea? I would appreciate any information and advice you ca give me.

As always a big thank you for all your blogs. I might not always write on here but I always read the blogs and advice which continues to inspire  me to get to the end of this journey so I can get back to leading a healthy and happy life. Tanya x

  • Hey Tanya

I also did the 3x3 and had bad thrush in mouth which was hard to shake so can relate. I took lots of probiotics pills and eventually get rid of it. Also throat gargle for sore throat. The fec was easier for me. Had no reaction but found taxo harder with each treatment i had.  Usually felt fine after treatment but hit me for six around day 5 or 6 for about 2 days then recovered from there.  Salted potato chips helped me with the nausea and heartburn.

Take it one treatment at a time and be kind to yourself.

Also be really careful with hygiene and stay away from shopping centres snd sick people wherever possible.

    Take care.
