Hi Kylie
Hope things are going well for you.
I'm now on day 4 of my chemo cycle and just wanted to let you know I have found it a little challenging but doable.
The first night was the worst with no sleep at all, nausea, reflux and a fast heart rate. If I had of called the 24hr cancer care hotline at my hospital the lovely nurse would of reassured me the heart rate was a normal reaction to one of the drugs for nausea. I didn't want to call on my first night but should have.
Sleep is still my big issue. I've managed about 2.5 hours but now my mind seems to become active just as I begin to doze. Fighting it isn't wrking so I read, play solitaire and wait.
During the day I'm a little tired but managing to still do my normal things. Visited my parents for lunch, went to shops etc. Cooking dinner has been a little difficult due to nausea but my kids have stepped in.
Chemo was the part of my journey that frightened me most. Even more than my bilateral mastectomy and clearance.
Hope this reassures you that you will find that strength to get through each step of your journey.
Take care of yourself, ask for help and accept offers.
Lastly remember the chemo kills the cancer cells but it can't kill your sense of humor and with that you will find a reason to smile each day.
