Hi Deborah,
I loved your post. I can relate so much to your WTF moments. My first pathology results of the lumpectomy were a big WTF. I was expecting a little 10mm neat tumour but ended up with a 40mm mucinous irregular bugger, DCIS in tissue margins. Knees went to jelly again, beginning of a roller coaster ride, detour off the journey for another re-excision (which also showed dreaded cells in margins). After 2 surgeries to preserve my breast, I really didn't have much more boob to take. I opted for the mastectomy which proved to be the best decision because there was a 2nd smaller tumour hiding (little effer). I was so inflamed from surgeries and knew I had to have chemo so I've had to delay my reconstruction for a later date. I do feel ok about that now.
All the best with your decisions and treatment. We're all traveling along together somewhere along the way.
Thanks for your post,
Karen xx
