Financial assistance with travel and accommodation

Hi everyone,

This is Annie from BCNA’s Policy Team. I thought I would let you know that we have recently updated our Patient Assisted Travel Scheme (PATS) fact sheet.

For those who aren’t familiar with PATS, it is a scheme that provides people in rural areas of Australia with financial assistance towards the costs of travelling to, and staying near, specialist medical services for treatment.

The scheme is run by each state and territory, so financial assistance differs according to location.

Our updated factsheet contains a summary of the subsidies that are available in each state and territory, and who you can contact to find out more information.

You can download the PATS fact sheet from our website.

  • Hi Shirl,

Thanks for the kind words :) It's great to hear that the fact sheet made it to the handy info folder - the updated one is much the same, but contains revised dollar amounts, and a bit of an intro into the PATS program. I'm glad to hear it's of some help :)
