Finally Some Good News

Yaaay Finally some good news. I'v been told that my lung problem ISN"T cancer but not sure what it is yet. The nurse at my GP's got hold of the onc on the multi discinplary team at the hospital & pushed for an answer because it was doing my head in & affecting my depression in a big way. The onc looked into it & there wasn't any mention of the Dr ringing me in my notes, which she was not happy about. She then got a senior rad to look at the scans & his opinion was that its not cancer, so she pushed & pushed for an urgent appointment with the respiratory dept & Im seeing them on 30 May. I had my second rad treatment today & cant believe how exhausted Iv been. After my first treatment yesterday I slept for 24 hours but my GP said that it was because of the rad & not to worry

  • Thanks for the tip Brenda. Got a phn call from Respiratory today & they've brought my appt forward to Monday
  • I have had 26 rads - 4 more to go. I got itchy on the top of my chest. The rads nurse told me itchiness is normal. They gave me some cortisone cream which took away the itch. Make sure you tell them about this at your next session.

  • Hi Paulan,

great news about the lungs. Tiredness is part and parcel of radiotherapy. And yes some telecast for the itching should help. All the best for your appointment. Karen xox

  • What a relief about the lung results. I believe the itchiness might be normal and the tiredness, but I haven't had radiotherapy

  • Glad the lung things not serious. Never had the radiation in my treatment but for itchy reactions during my chemo I found Telfast was mild but effective.

  • I forgot to ask, has anyone had trouble with immense itchiness. Not sure if its just a coincidence or not but Iv been itchy since about 6 hours after my first rad & it wont stop
