Final Chemo

Soooo, had my final chemo session today, as I was was being plugged in a song came on the radio that means a lot to me, Big Country's In A Big Country. It's the sort of song that gets you up and jumping, the group originated from my home town in Scotland and it brings back memories of high school and plaid shirts (80s chic). Most of all the words, " come out screaming" and " I can look and breathe and see the sun in wintertime" for me ithat sums up how I feel, there's a lot of positives to come out of my BC journey, and it's not over yet. I have my op on the 22nd then I have the radiotherapy, then stick a fork in me, I'm cooked! I can't sing the praises of the oncology staff enough, the small kindnesses of the nurses, the smiles, the laughs. I feel very lucky to have had the standard of care that I had, the patience of the receptionists ( chemo brain is a bummer) and my oncologist was pretty damn good too. I'm a bit flummoxed as to what to do on Mondays now, but I'm sure I will think of something!

  • I had my surgery in December 2012, started chemo in February 2013, kidney out June 2013, radiation August 2013 and then an Ooporectomy in November 2013.

Life has pretty much returned to normal, we seem to go through so much and appointment with all those doctors fill our days and then bam its over. I still have visits with all the doctors but they are each every 6 months now.

Believe me I get tired, fatigue may be a factor for a while, but life does return to relative normaolicy and its pretty damn good.

    Take care

  • It's a good feeling, finishing your chemo, hey? Best wishes for your op and your radiation, bit more of a journey to go, but finishing chemo is a big step, take care,
