I joined this blog today as I am looking for answers about the joint pain, lethargy etc I have been feeling recently and I am starting to think its a side effect of Femara or Crestor. Off to the doctor I go tomorrow to discuss whether I need to change my medication. I read a lot of posts about fish oil - are people finding relief taking this? I am nearly 5 years post Grade 3 IDC - three surgeries and large amount of lymph nodes removed, chemotherapy and radio therapy. It feels good to be so close to my 5th year anniversary - its been one hell of a journey and not all bad in so many ways - I think you are forced to re-evaluate what's important and you can't help but grow from this experience. I have mixed feelings about being cut loose by my doctors - a little scary as well as feeling good to have beat this.

Hi DAR Travelbug, Joint pain and lethargy sure are side effects of Femara. I have been taking Femara since February 2010 and still suffer these side effects. I do take Fish Oil as well which I really started to lower my blood pressure but it has made a little difference to the pains, mainly in my legs and feet. It is 4 years today since I was diagnosed and like you I will be feeling a little edgy when I reach my 5 year anniversary. Best of luck in the future, Jill xx

Hi Dar Travelbug/Friends I was pleased to hear your comment about Femara. For months now I have been having terrible pain in my feet and ankles and days when I can hardly walk. The Doctor said Planter Faciitis. Strangely enough I have been reading up on this subject from women who have Bone Mets and they say surely we all can't have Planter Faciitis.I would love to hear from anyone if they have experienced the same pain in their feet. I still take Femara, Xgeva and Vit. D.It just takes the life out of me as I hesitate even to play nine holes of golf or go shopping.I think I would be relieved to just have someone say it could well be the Femara. Thank -you morry

Hi Morry,i have been on Femara for 14 months, and I have experienced sore feet, hands and joints, and Plantar Fasciitis. I don't believe that the foot pain from the Femara is the same as the Fasciitis. Unfortunately I have had about 3 nasty episodes of plantar fasciitis, and they all happened prior to femara. They take about a year or more to go, and I ended up using orthotics from the podiatrist. My most recent bout has coincided with some of my femara treatment, but it was there prior to starting, and am pleased to say has finally gone. However, this pain is quite different to the foot pain of Femara. Plantar fasciitis feels like a very bad bruise on the heel, and sometimes you can feel pulling into your Archilles heel and even your calf. The femara makes me hobble like an old lady, and gradually after a few steps it improves. Since taking large doses of fish oil, I am a lot better. Most joint pain and foot pain is well controlled now, but nothing seems to have helped my stiff and swollen finger joints. I have had to increase my ring size, and I have no strength in my fingers, nor can I make a complete fist anymore. I blame the femara for that, but maybe it was the chemo, or menopause, but it appeared about 3 months after starting femara. Love Chris xx

Hi Jill

Thank you for that information it is just so helpful to hear from people who are experiencing the same symptons.

It will be interesting next month as the Oncologist has now put me on Tamoxifen instead of Femara to see if this will help. He is also talking about going back to Zometa rather than Xgeva. Do you ever feel you would just like a little stability in your life as I sometimes come away thinking I am just a Guinea Pig.

I did take Tamoxifen for five years when I was diagnosed with BC but now 16 years later it is Bone Mets.

Thank-you everyone for your input as it makes me feel I am not on my own out there.morry
