I had a mastectomy on December 14, 2011. Began Chemotherapy in January. Last treatment was April 2nd and my oncologist wants me to take Femara. I have not taken it yet and after reading the side affects, am not going to. I am going to find a doctor that believes in and is very knowledgable about natural supplements so I can find something natural to block my estrogen.
Have any of your doctors done blood tests to see what your estrogen level is? Mine hasn't. One bad thing in the United States is that instead of being treated as an individual, everyone is lumped into cancer categories and everyone gets the same treatments according to what cancer you have. I am not happy about that. I know people who have chosen not to take the drug and one was 13 years ago and she is fine.
Does anyone know what the percentage of recurrance is if you take it or if you don't? I bet there is not much difference. I would like to know the percentage if anyone knows.
Also, if anyone knows of something natural that does the same as Femara, please let me know.
