Hi there and welcome, you will find this SUCH a great place ! People who know what you're talking about and how you are feeling.
I had a lumpectomy and a sentinel node biopsy justas you are. My lump was 9mm, all removed with clear margins and my sentinel nodes were clear. TAt that stage my surgeon was telling me that I would need 6 weeks of radiation and that would be it, all done and dusted.
Unfortunately after pathology I was found to be HER2+ so that meant the full range - 6cycles of chemo, a year on Herceptin, 6 weeks of radiation and some years of endocrine therapy. I am now just up to chemo #3 and it's all going fairly smoothly. Not as bad as some, I've been lucky.
Just take one step at a time - my surgery was very smooth, almost painless afterwards and healed really well - so I hope that for you too.
Ask HEAPS of questionsof your surgeon, they are marvellous and will tell you as much or as little as you want to know.
And ask them here too, someone will be in the same boat as you.
Travelling is just postponed, not cancelled. Life will go on afterwards - you just have to delay for a bit and give yourself time to recover.
