Feeling great!
Just wanted to give some encouragement to those undergoing Chemo treatment. I had my last Chemo 6 days ago and I feel mentally fantastic.
I have tried very hard to keep healthy through Chemo, eating well (within reason), exercising (walking most days) and resting when my body needed to. I have also been very fortunate to have great support from my family and friends.
You do get there and while I really wish I never had BC, I hope that I can hang onto my new appreciation of life and the fantastic support I have had. I feel very lucky to have had so much help. I have always been very independent and like to be the one in control. This experience has changed that. I have learnt to except and appreciate the help of others. I am so grateful to have had people in my life who stepped in and allowed me to just concentrate on getting through treatment.
While my body still has a way to go to get back it's strength, and I still have more treatment to get through, I just wanted to take the time to say you do get there and it is great when you do!
My advice is to do what you have to to get through Chemo. Let people help because it means you will recover more quickly in the end. While my family would never have wanted to be faced with this situation, we have all grown closer and stronger because of it. I am so proud of my wonderful husband and daughters who have looked after me so well. The thoughtfulness of friends has helped me get through too. Even virtual strangers have been kind and thoughtful during this time. It has restored my faith in human nature.
Chemo is hard and it is awful but finishing is great!
