fec three done

Hi all,

When I went in for FEC 3 on Tuesday, doc said my neutrophils(part of white blood cells)were too low but they decided to go ahead anyhow but I had to come back the next day for an injection to help raise the levels again.  I was offered the option of self injecting but as I am a bit of a whimp and don't live far from hospital so did that.  I was told that I will now have to have this after each of the next 3 chemos too.

I was worried about how my veins would go as i had had lots of pain since second dose but all went ok there so that was a relief.

Glad the fec's are over, but not looking forward to taxotare but must look on bright side and say 1/2 way there now!

Hope you are all resting up when you can.

love Julia

  • Thanks Ladies!,

I am only 5 mins away from hospital so travelling is no problem for me.  I wanted to ask something about the injections..

When I had it on Wednesday they said I may feel joint pain for the first 24-48 hours as the cells regenerate.  I did not have that but after watching my daughter play netball today then feeling exhaused and having a long sleep, I am aching all over my body, feels like every muscle and also in my remaining breast!  I have just had a bath but no help.  So I dont know if it is delayed effects from Wed or some other lurgy.

I can't remember the name of the injection I had but it did start with Neutro I think.

    thanks, Julia

  • Hi Julia

Half way through and no more FEC - Great feeling isn't it! I'm just a few days in front of you and so that feeling is very fresh for me as is the being a little anxious about the Taxotere.

I have had similar injections before I started chemo (although not self-injecting) and then the self-injecting after each treatment. Basically there was no way I was travelling another 2 1/2 hours the day after chemo and actually was quite surprised to have very little trouble. At least to this stage they have worked enough for my treatments to stay on schedule and I have only needed 1 post each chemo so far.

I'm off for my first Taxotere on Thursday so might be able to share before you head off.  If not, all the best for that one.

    Dette xxoo
