Fec chemo

I found a 3.5 cm lump just before Xmas then had a lumpectomy but the margins weren't clear so had my left breast removed a week before Xmas no lymph nodes were affected and I start fec chemo on the 2nd of feb I'll be having 6 treatments 1 every 6 weeks. I'm 32 and have 5 children 4 boys aged 13,8,7,5 and 1 girl 3yrs old. I live in Wallumbilla and will be having treatment in toowoomba would love to talk to woman with similar story's

    Hi,

    I'm probably a bit late in responding to your post, as I guess you are now finished your chemo (yay!).

    I was diagnosed in 2009, at age 37, with invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) grade 3.  I'm from Dalby, so I also had my treatment at St. Andrews in Toowoomba.  I have 3 children - twin boys aged 13 and a daughter aged 9.

    I also had FEC chemo regime + radiation (as I had a lumpectomy) + I'm on tamoxifen for 5 years.

    I'm almost 3 years clear of cancer now, which is a great feeling, but my kids have some ongoing anxiety in relation to it - which is a great concern to me.

    I hope you are recovering well and please post if there is anything you want to talk about.

    Hi, I found 2 lumps in my breast last year and had them, as well as axillary nodes, removed just before Christmas. 3/25 nodes were positive so I am having the whole kit and kaboodle too. Chemo FEC started 30th Jan. I am 31 and  have a 1 year old and found the 1st few days after chemo really hard going. Trying to look after her, but just feeling like lying down on the spot or feeling too nauseas to do anything. 

    Unfortunately they also found some small spots in my rib and sternum. I am praying (not that I normally do that) that the chemo is going to work. I am struggling to come to terms with the treatments and possibility of not having any more children. 

    I too would like to keep in contact about how you are managing with the FEC and family life while we go through this

    I too have to do hormone treatment as well as chemo I'm on tomoxifen for 5 years I had started them just after my mascectomy but was told to stop them Thursday until chemo is all done all bit scary would like to keep in touch to see how you go good luck with everything

    Hi Barbieliesh

    I too found a lump in my left breast before xmas and I had a mastectomy on the 11th of January this year. Unfortunately I have cancer cells in 7 of the 16 lymph nodes they removed so am going to get the kitchen sink thrown at me! Starting chemo soon, followed by radiation therapy and then hormone treatment! What a year. I am 38 and have two boys, 6 and 9 years. It would be great to keep in touch and see how you are going. I wish you good health and all the best for what is to come!
