FEC 2

Good morning ladies, Well FEC 2 yesterday went without any hiccups, for which I am very grateful. This morning I have terrible stomach cramps, which I didnt Fec 1. I have really bad back ache which I had last time but didn't think was chemo related and now know it must be because it's in the same area. Still have the headache. Not so foggy this time and don't feel as nauseated. Think I will call the oncology nurse re the back ache though. 2 down 4 to go! Had a very down day on Wednesday, but feeling positive again now. My 18 year old son sent me a text yesterday whilst I was having chemo saying how brave I was and how proud he was of me. It made my day. My 20 year old daughter came with me to my session. My husband does EVERYTHING! I am so lucky! Hope everyone is having a good day. Much love Penny xx

  •  hi alison,

i remember  back ache also after chemo treatment. i had the injections to get the white cell count back up too. can you take anything for the discomfort?

finish chemo.. jan 6th, then herceptin 3 weekly until october 2012. radiation starting mid january, for 7 weeks.

it takes a toll, all the treatments add up, so take it easy alison.. is my advice. all those hot flushes etc and other symptoms.

hi penny, you are just starting on the journey. yes, day by day helps to get through it. good luck.

jrova.. that retail therapy sounds good.. LOL.

    all the best .. kathy.

  • Feeling much better today, my GP changed some medications, took some away, added others. I think it's helped a lot. I walked for a bit on the treadmill, which helped my back pain. I haven't had any injections Jane, so that shouldn't be the problem. I had a CT scan done to see what's actually going on. No nausea this time and the stomach cramps have eased. Feeling pretty good today! Come on Jan 6! Alison you are amazing! Love Penny xxx
  • Hi Penny,

Hang in there! It does improve. I found myself looking out for every ache and pain and came to conclusion that this was all part and parcel of going through what we are going through. Unless it goes on for a while then a doctor's visit is warranted. It's never easy though thinking the worst.

I'm on the countdown now to Jan 6 which is my last weekly Taxol/Herceptin then I have Herceptin 3-weekly  until Oct. I now have a plan with my oncologist! I also start radiotherapy mid Jan for 7 weeks. I can now see the light at the end of this tunnel.

You have every right to have down days - we are only human and what we are going through is life changing.

Hang in there - you are doing so well,

    Much love,

    Alison xx

  • I had chronic back pain in the exact same place on days 4 and 5 of all four of my TC cycles. I'm certain it was caused by the Neulasta injections. I also had pain in my face, jaw bone, hips and knees. I too have been overwhelmed by my teenagers' beautiful behaviour during my treatment. It doesn't hurt for them to be reminded how special their Mums are!!! I've also had a couple of unexpected down days since my chemo finished the Wednesday before last. When chemo ended, I felt a bit 'cast adrift'. I've kept busy with some intense retail therapy over the last few days though and I'm feeling MUCH better! Haha. Love Jane
  • Glad to hear you got through round 2.It's always a worry when we have unexplained pains-hope the onc nurse can shed some light on your backache,I think I've pulled a groin muscle from stepping up and down on a chair to paint a wall.Have had it for weeks and started to worry I had hip bone cancer.Anyway,I took it easy and it's improved so will forget about it now.I had my surgeon's checkup today and I really didn't want to tell her about it cos that mean's xrays blah blah. You'll have 3monthly check ups for 2 years. It's a double edged sword-glad I'm being checked but soooo over it.

Your son sounds like a lovely young man and your daughter was good to go to your chemo session..Gives her an insight  into what you are going through.I couldn't have got through it all without my husband,my rock. Yes we are lucky to have their love and support . Don't know how some women on this site manage on their own. They are so strong and gutsy.

Well hope your aches and pains are going away.
