I think I was in hosp for a week, & bored bored bored - but alive.
It can be as quick as 24 hrs for an infection to get hold when white cell counts drop too low.
What they may do next chemo session is give you the Neulasta injection (I had it 3 times) which bumps up your white blood cell count, so when it goes down, you are still safe from infection with high enough counts.
It is a tough solution, your body ramps up cell production and it takes alot out of you, it also stopped me from sleeping for approx 2 days, but it does keep you safe :)
