Yes it does seem a bit scarey. I still have my Penny Portacath in (Specialist wanted it in for 2 years - time is up in April) When it was inserted I had a big blood clot that lasted as a giantic bruise for 9 weeks - so although I want it out I am apprehensive about a similar occurence. I mentioned this at Oncology today whilst I was having the portacath flushed and the nurse said the "right thing" to me. It won't necessarily do the same when it comes out. So that is my thought to you - next chemo will be fine and won't cause you the same issues. The oncology nurses/medical oncologist will prescribe an injection that you will need to administer on your second day after chemo. That is how it was for me. Good luck with your move.
