Febrile Neutropenia
Friday afternoon I started feeling a bit hot....(day 10 after 2nd chemo) so after cooking dinner for the family decided to take my temp - 38.6°
So off to hospital for blood tests etc and had a 3 ni...

So great to know I'm not the only one to have to deal with this problem!
Felt very frustrated by the whole situation...being in a small country town, stand in doctor had no experience of dealing with Neutropenia - when I went to the hospital the nurse rang him as Dr was on call...as I was not feeling unwell, just hot due to temp he told the nurses to give me a couple of panadol and send me home! She told him I needed blood test/cultures etc so he came in. Admitted me but I had no antibiotics until the following morning...8 hours later after he rang the regional hospital where my oncologist is! I am terrified of being so far away from specialist attention...this round has been really difficult for me...hope my next one will be easier to get through!
